RESTORATION

At Futura Garage, we specialize in the restoration of classic cars. When our customers speak of the restoration process, they are often referring to a nut and bolt, or rotisserie restoration where the complete vehicle is restored from top to bottom. Other times, clients are simply looking to focus on a specific area of their classic car. No matter what your classic car restoration needs are, after an initial consultation, we can start to help you develop a plan for your vehicle.

We are able to control the quality and timing of the project from start to finish. Our different partners work in harmony during a project to create efficiency without having to outsource large sections of the job.

We achieve high quality workmanship by combining talent, and proper processes. You can always shave costs by cutting corners on these two items, but quality will inevitably suffer. If you are going to invest in the work, let’s do it right the first time.

RESTORATION

Body Shop

Laser straight panels and tight gaps don’t happen by accident. After we have removed any rust from your project, we dive into the process of straightening the panels. Although they may look straight, metal panels, whether they are original, or aftermarket are pretty wavy. After you apply a new coat of shiny paint, the waves will really stand out! It’s for this reason that we put a great deal of time and effort into the body of your car.

The best processes and highest quality materials produce the best results time and time again. There are no short cuts in paint and body, and we won’t take any with your pride and joy. Please reach out to us to find out how we can help you with your latest project.

RESTORATION

Custom Interiors

Interiors are often the most overlooked and rushed area we see in the restoration world. By having an in house interior shop, we are able to control projects from start to finish so that we can always maintain a focus on quality.
Before any work is completed, we begin with the design work and important material choices to make sure the interior flows and has a timeless quality to it.
Factory Correct Interiors
While many of our builds are custom in nature, we also perform a lot of factory correct restoration work. For jobs such as these, we work with a number of different manufacturers to match materials as closely as possible to the original finishes and designs.
RESTORATION

Rust Repair

After years of exposure to water and salt, many older vehicles begin to develop rust issues. The only way to stop the advancement of rust, is to remove it completely from the vehicle and weld in new metal. On larger restorations, we usually start by stripping the vehicle to bare metal in order to identify the trouble areas, and then we replace the rusted areas with new steel.

RESTORATION

Engine Overhauls

Smoke, oil consumption, and loss of power are all signs that your engine may be in need of a rebuild. Whatever your symptoms, we’ll do a health analysis on your engine including a compression test to get a more informed measure of its true operating condition.

If we find that your engine needs rebuilding, we’ll discuss the specifics of the rebuild with you, including optional replacement parts (cam, heads, etc.) and any available upgrades that can be made. After we’ve removed and disassembled your engine, we’ll boil-out the block to remove any built-up sludge, and then have your block and your heads machined.

During reassembly your engine will get new gaskets, piston rings, lifters (where applicable), camshaft(s), oil pump, water pump (where applicable), valve guides, valves, main bearings, connecting rod bearings, and pistons. We’ll reassemble your engine with new gaskets and fresh fluids, and then reinstall your engine and reconnect all your accessories.
Don’t let the experience of driving your classic car be reduced to constant disappointment. Send us an email  or complete the form below and we’ll get you up and running and back on the road.

RESTORATION

Fuel System

Holleys, Rochesters or Edelbrocks, Strombergs or Offenhausers, Webers or SUs, we know them all. As a shop that specializes in servicing classic cars, we work on carburetors of all stripes every day. Whether your engine is fed with a single barrel, tri-power, dual-quads, or the mighty six-pack, our technicians are experienced at tuning carburetors to get your engine to perform. We’re no strangers to classic performance fuel delivery either.

If the beast underneath your hood is fuel-starved, or you’re looking for an increase in horsepower, check out some of our high-performance fuel system components.

RESTORATION

Radiator & Cooling System

Your car’s cooling system is without a doubt the unsung hero of the drivetrain, remaining largely unnoticed  until a problem arises. Buildup of sludge, rust, excessive cavitation, or something as simple as a bad radiator cap or water pump may be preventing your cooling system from properly circulating coolant. Overheating problems can be difficult to diagnose. We can flow-test, boil out or replace your radiator. If originality is important to you, we can re-core your factory radiator. Send us an email  or complete the form below before you blow your top.

It’s worth mentioning here that overheating may not be your radiator’s fault. Overheating may also be a symptom of other problems that will occur even with a perfectly functional radiator. Your engine block may not be cooling evenly due to a number of factors, including blocked coolant ports from sludge or improper gaskets.

Also, if you’ve made some performance upgrades to your engine, you might need additional cooling capacity to keep up. Ask us about performance radiators and other cooling solutions to help keep your temp. gauge down in the summer heat.

RESTORATION

Transmission Overhauls

Slippage, hard or delayed shifts, and whining are just a few signs that your transmission may need attention, and as frightening as the prospect transmission work may be, it’s one problem you definitely don’t want to ignore. Keep in mind – reduced fluid levels can sometimes be the culprit. If your classic is leaving pinkish red transmission puddles everywhere you park it, you might just need a reseal and a top-off.

If you elect to have your automatic transmission overhauled, we’ll remove and disassemble your transmission and clean its case and all of its parts thoroughly in a high-temperature bath. Once clean and ready for reassembly, we’ll replace all of your friction clutches, steel plates and drum bands, check for wear on your high drum and front pump (and replace where necessary), and replace your sealing rings, bushings, filter, and of course, all of your gaskets.

Got four on the floor or three on the tree (a manual transmission)? We’ll give your transmission the same thorough cleansing, then rebuild it with new bushings, synchros (where applicable), and gaskets. While we’ve got your transmission out, we’ll have a look at your clutch and pressure plate, and resurface or replace them where necessary.

Send us an email or complete the form below and we’ll get you back on the road and moving through the gears!

If your transmission is not original to your car, this might be a good point to think about a transmission

RESTORATION

Suspension & Steering

We see suspension components neglected more than any other component system on classic cars. The result of this neglect, however, is a car that handles like slop; worn ball joints, pitman and idler arms, or other components lend excessive play to your steering geometry, and bushings that have cracked and split in half over time aren’t doing you any favors either. You’re not giving your classic car enough credit if you believe it’s supposed to handle so poorly. Send us an email   r complete the form below and we’ll have your classic handling like new in no time.

Looking for some increased performance in your car’s handling? Ask about the performance suspension upgrades we offer for classic vehicles.

RESTORATION

Exhaust & Mufflers

Your engine needs to breathe, and not just through its intake. All the air and fuel in the world won’t do you much good if your engine can’t exhale properly. Your car’s exhaust can deliver increased horsepower, better fuel economy, and – perhaps most importantly – the right sound. If you’ll allow us to wax-poetic for a bit, the exhaust note of a classic car is emblematic of the car’s soul, and is almost as important as how your car looks. Whether you want your Cadillac to purr so quietly you can barely tell it’s running, or you want your GTO to let everyone know you’re coming before you arrive, send us an email or complete the form below and we’ll help give you the performance and sound your car deserves.

RESTORATION

Braking

Smoke, oil consumption, and loss of power are all signs that your engine may be in need of a rebuild. Whatever your symptoms, we’ll do a health analysis on your engine including a compression test to get a more informed measure of its true operating condition.

Going fast is all well and good, but eventually you’re going to have to slow down and stop. Are your car’s brakes up to the task? Whether your car pulls to one side while braking, or just needs a new pair of pads or shoes, we’ve got the cure to what ails your classic car’s braking system. Send us an email  or complete the form below to arrange a consultation and we’ll help you get the braking performance you need.

If four-wheel drum brakes on two-tons of speeding automobile doesn’t sound like your idea of a good time, talk to us about a disc brake upgrade or adding power brakes to your classic.

RESTORATION

Electrical & Gauges

Electrical problems can be some of the most frustrating and difficult issues that arise with a classic automobile. Leads can become brittle over time and break, vibration can gradually wear through insulation and ground circuits, and oxidation can leave you with bad contacts. Whatever the cause may be, if your right blinker comes on when you’re in reverse, you might be giving other drivers mixed signals.
Maybe you were unfortunate enough to have your classic car serve as the winter home to a family of mice, or maybe your car’s wiring has just seen one too many patches over the years.
If you opt to have your car rewired, we’ll pull out your wiring harness and run a nice, new, factory-correct wiring harness to your ignition, lights, gauges, and all of the accessories on your car.
If your classic has been upgraded with A/C, power windows, or other non-factory gadgets, an aftermarket wiring harness may fit better.
Think your car’s wiring is too far gone consider rewiring  with a new wiring harness.
Gauges are critically important to driving a classic car unlike newer vehicles where a computer even frizz your car incase of serious issues
Despite this, we see many classic cars with gauges that are inaccurate or completely inoperable. So don’t get stuck on the side of the road because you thought you still had a quarter tank – or worse yet – your in-op temperature gauge couldn’t warn you that your engine was about to overheat.  Send us an email or complete the form below and let us help keep you in the know.
